Family prayers in my family often include a request for blessings for a list of people - bless Mommy and Daddy and Russy and Billy and Grandma and Grandpa and Grandma and Grandpa. (I left out the girls to shorten the list. We are usually included, but I like shorter lists.)
Since Grandpa Howes died, he has been left out of the blessing list.
But why should he be? He still exists and could probably still use blessings. They definitely wouldn't hurt. Sure, I don't know what sort of blessings he'd need. But I don't necessarily know what specific blessings all the other people on the list need, either.

You know, I think you're right, in fact I'm pretty sure that I've prayed for someone who has died before, but I can't remember exactly who or when. I guess that I've just always kind of felt that most of our loved ones are in heaven right close to Heavenly Father and Jesus, and I just know that they're watching over them closely. Anyway, a few extra prayers definitely can't hurt!
